Winter

Summer is slowly but surely coming to a close, and that means that winter is gently creeping its way in. While it’s sad to say goodbye to the summer sunshine, autumn and winter are the perfect times to curl up with a warm cup of coffee and a captivating manga.

We’re very blessed that this is how we’re able to view winter, as for many, it’s a cold time that only exacerbates existing struggles. For instance, a number of charities have a winter appeal to save those in developing countries from the dreaded effects of winter. As we are so blessed, we should make an effort to donate to these causes and reflect on how we can help others further as we sip our coffee and flick through our manga.

“My Love Story!!” and Caramel Latte

If you’re after a heartwarming story and a coffee that’s equally as sweet, then “My Love Story!!” paired with a caramel latte is the way forward. The manga is an endearing love story of the gentle giant, Takeo Gouda, and the sweet Rinko Yamato. Essentially, it’s a tale of love, humor, and human kindness. The smooth sweetness of the creamy caramel latte perfectly complements the more tender moments in the manga, resulting in delightful sips and page turns all around.

“The Ancient Magus’ Bride” and Spiced Chai Latte

Winter is widely thought to be the season of magic, and there’s no better manga to immerse yourself in a world of enchantment than “The Ancient Magus’ Bride”. The series is about a young girl named Chise Hatori, who is sold to a non-human sorcerer. The story is abundant in folklore, fantasy, and warmth since it’s all about developing relationships in a cold and mysterious world.

When you pair this with a spiced chai latte, the aromatic blend of cinnamon, cardamom, and ginger is reminiscent of the mystical and ancient elements of the manga. You’re sure to keep warm and cozy with the chai while journeying through the magical realms.

“Tokyo Ghoul” and Dark Roast Coffee

If you’re all about dark and intense stories, then “Tokyo Ghoul” might just be for you. This manga is a psychological horror, diving straight into the struggles of Kaneki Ken, a college student who becomes a half-ghoul, half-human hybrid. It’s a series that’s a profound exploration of identity, morality, and blurred lines between humans and monsters.

Since “Tokyo Ghoul” is so deep and dark, a bold dark roast coffee is the perfect accompaniment. A dark roast coffee boasts rich and bitter notes, which are sure to resonate with the intense atmosphere of the manga, making for an enhanced reading experience. When you want to immerse yourself in a world that’s as complex as it is chilling on a cold, wintry night, this is the ideal pairing.

“Yotsuba&!” and Mocha Coffee

Perhaps you’d prefer something lighter and more uplifting; if so, then “Yotsub&!” might be just what you’re looking for. This manga follows the life of Yotsuba, a quirky and energetic young girl who explores the world with wide-eyed wonder. Humor, innocence, and infectious joy are the defining traits of this series.

“Yotsuba&!” is best paired with mocha coffee, as the chocolatey flavor is equally sweet and comforting, making for an indulgent yet familiar experience. This is reminiscent of the heartwarming moments in Yotsuba’s world, making the perfect pairing for a lazy winter afternoon

Is there anything more comforting than a coffee and manga story? Trying out these perfect pairings will keep you occupied throughout the winter months, making for endless cozy days.
